We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, self-starting, task oriented, friendly and hardworking yet fun (and funny!) person to join our dedicated team -- that means you're hardworking and a team player. Above all else, our staff must have an unwavering focus on customer service and product knowledge.
Sales staff members assist customers, maintain operations, conduct tastings and much more! Therefore, an ability to interact comfortably with customers and a working knowledge of wine, beer and spirits is important.
We provide you with:
1. Continual sales training and wine, beer and spirits tastings.
2. A great way to get into the beverage industry (and grow within it).
3. An opportunity to work with one of the best retailers around.
4. Significant staff discounts.
This more than part time position is for, on average, 20
hours/week with evening and weekend shifts to be expected. Flexibility is key.
We expect a minimum of a one-year commitment. Compensation will depend on experience, education and salesability.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate in their application the following
Qualifications:
Initiative: you're an eager self-starter with a desire to learn more and assume responsibility
Excellent customer service skills (getting the idea yet?)
A genuine interest in wine, beer, and spirits
B.A./B.S. preferred; wine/food industry experience in a retail store or restaurant valued
Please plan to be around when we need you most; i.e. you're not planning significant/extended time away in November and December. This is a retail position.
IT basics, i.e., MS Office, Internet/Email
Ability to carry cases of wine (up to 40 pounds) safely up stairs and to parking lot
Sincere interest in continuing to make Grapes & Grains the super shop it is.
